Wegeler Rheingau estate vintage 2021

Wegeler Riesling Rheingau Loess Trocken 2021

91 Points

Very aromatic, with a wide spectrum of fruit aromas from ripe citrus to red apple and some redcurrant. Juicy front palate with the typical lively acidity for this rather cool vintage. Bright apple fruit and delicate herbal notes at the long, refreshing finish. The first vintage of this cuvee of wines from Oestich, Mittelheim, Winkel and a bit of Geisenheim. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Wegeler Riesling Rheingau Charta 2021

92 Points

The fine, peachy nose leads you into this elegant and concentrated dry riesling that has a very appealing harmony, the racy acidity very well integrated. Long, refreshing finish with plenty of wet-stone minerality. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Wegeler Riesling Rheingau Oestrich Trocken 2021

93 Points

This impressive village wine that’s only just beginning to open up, but the cool nose of crisp pear, fresh herbs and white thorn blossoms is already very expressive. Although at the lower end of medium-bodied, this is tightly structured on the palate, with a lot of tension. Long crystalline finish. Needs a bit more bottle age, but excellent potential. A cuvee of wines from the Lenchen and Doosberg GG sites. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Wegeler Riesling Rheingau Geisenheim 2021

93 Points

This has a discreet nose of a summer garden dripping after a storm. A well-structured Kabinett that’s barely off-dry and combines depth with brightness and uplifting freshness at the long, very clean finish. A cuvee based on wines from the excellent Klauserweg site. The first vintage under this name. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Wegeler Riesling Rheingau Morschberg Kabinett 2021

95 Points

What a fantastic nose of spring blossoms and white currants. At once juicy, racy and elegant, this is a stunning, barely off-dry Rheingau Kabinett that has everything that makes this category so exciting. Totally invigorating and uplifting mineral freshness at the very long finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Wegeler Riesling Rheingau Berg Schlossberg Kabinett 2021

95 Points

What a complex nose of stone fruit, jasmine and honeysuckle! Succulent, focused and energetic, this has a stunning balance of bright fruit and racy acidity. Breathtaking freshness at the very long, straight finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Wegeler Riesling Rheingau Berg Rottland Spätlese 2021

95 Points

A finely nuanced and well-structured Rheingau Spatlese with an excellent balance of wet-stone minerality, elegant acidity and beautifully integrated grape sweetness. Very long, refined finish. Not a jot too sweet, but just wait for what this will give after some further years of bottle maturation! Drink or hold.

Wegeler Riesling Rheingau Rothenberg Auslese 2021

95 Points

Very succulent and exotic, with tons of King Alfonso mango character, but also herbal freshness. Very impressive depth and richness, yet it’s very clean and straight, the balance of noble sweetness and refreshing acidity spot-on. Limited production. Drink or hold.

Wegeler Riesling Rheingau Rothenberg Trockenbeerenauslese 2021

98 Points

Extremely dense nose of dried papaya and mango with pronounced mushroom character (a typical aspect of this category at this very young age). Enormous concentration and structure, the honeyed sweetness underlined by the great mineral energy and spicy complexity in a way that bowls you over. Very limited production. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.
