Rüdesheim Berg Rottland - VDP.GROSSE LAGE
Besides the Berg Schlossberg, the Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland ist known as the best vineyard site within the Rüdesheimer Berg. It is located west of Rüdesheim. The name of the vineyard comes from the Middle High German "rotten" (today: "roden", which means land cleaning. Riesling wines from the Berg Rottland are defined as mineralic and fruity.
History: This vineyard site dates back to the 11th century when the land was cleared for winegrowing.

Soil: Strongly weathered quarzite from the Taunus region with hints of loess and a good water-holding capacity
Orientation: South- Southeast, gradient up to 30 %
