Harvest Report 2016

Growing Season: A mild climate during winter was followed by a cool temperatures in spring. Thus bud-burst only arrived at the end of April. Development of vines, flowering around the 15.06.2016 and the beginning of maturation 20.06.2016 corresponded to longtime average.

Overall the vintage came up with all possible challenges, starting from frost in late April and continuing with an extremely wet spring and early summer accompanied by thunderstorms and sometimes hail. Through timely and consistent work our vineyards stood in good condition. A sunny and warm August and September finally provided a satisfactory deployment of our vines and sufficient fruit maturity. We were able to pick healthy golden grapes, starting with the estate wines on 30.09.2016, followed by our GG in mid-October. Our natural sweet wines Berg Schlossberg Kabinett and Rottland Spätlese needed strict sorting in order to fulfill required quality levels.

Must Weight:  75° Oechsle  - 176° Oechsle

Conclusion: Even though we had to cope with extremely difficult conditions throughout spring and early summer we were able to bring in healthy and very aromatic grapes.
